Coping by the grace of God

Well, today I received the news that two dear people to me passed away.

Firstly my Nanna (dads mum)... She was 90yrs old and a faithful member of the salvos until her husbands death quite a few years ago. She had since moved into a nursing home... And is now in her final home with Jesus.

Secondly was a man who was inspiring and a very strong Catholic!
He was (with his beautiful wife) the parent couple of the Antioch movement at Miranda for almost 20 of it's 27 (so far) years.
Terry O'Neil you are now with the Lord and Our Lady... I know your praying for your love to be comforted and to join you at home. Margaret (terry's wife) is holding on... She is the most lovable woman of God and I pray Gods embrace can comfort her at this time.

But this leaves me with a very saddened heart. Two lives left earth for their destination in heaven! How blessed are they?

While I'm grieving I still remain peaceful that they are in heaven and now interceding with the angels and saints for all our prayers.

Death is so hard for us humans here on earth. It's never easy, but it's definitely a gift being a Christian and in grieving as we have a source of hope and strength that is beyond this world.

Lord in your divine mercy I pray for the souls of Audrey and Terry.

Thank you for their gifts to me and all those lives that were touched by their existence here on earth.

Strengthen our faith in you, and let us lean not on our understanding, but in your most sacred heart!

I ask this, through Christ who is Lord forever and ever amen.

Never see a need without doing something about it

Never see a need without doing something about it... St Mary of the cross Mackillop.

Aren't they powerful words! With my first hat embedded into my head, I cannot go passed this quote without saying "amen"!

Not even as a Christian but as a human being we have a responsibility within us to care for one another!

My second hat :: Corinne the social worker.

I have a bachelor of social work at post graduate level. And until then I never went to Uni.... So how does that happen?
How does one enter a post graduate degree without having an undergraduate?

Well... For my entire working life since I started casual work in my last year of highschool, I have worked in some form of human services... From recreation programs for children with disabilities, respite with adults with disabilities, summer camp program in USA for special needs and disadvantaged/disengaged youth, to completing a diploma health science massage therapy and running a massage business for two years as a mobile service to ppl with disabilities... To being employed with my church as the youth minister... It granted me access to Uni!

For some reason, it has always been part of me to be of service for others, and I relate to the opening quote so much.

Being a social worker I just love engaging with ppl and empowering them to get to a place of hope and contentment. Now I know that place of hope and contentment is found in Jesus, but I have an ethical dilemma here. We know we cannot impose religion on anyone, yet I'm working with vulnerable people... So what is my answer?

Simple: St Francis of Assisi puts it beautifully "preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary use words".

The app that will help

I found an app for my iPhone that will allow me to blog whenever I can't sleep...

This is when I'm most creative and ideas flow like a rushing waterfall.

I cannot believe how addicted I am already to blogging!

So something that will be revealed in later hats will be about why I'm such a night owl.

Curfew for Rin is 11pm and that's not the time now... So I best be sleeping!

Introducing: The beautiful elrk with me at high tea... Her gift of faith is the best testimony of God's grace!

Embracing Hats... Why?

SO here it is,... my FIRST BLOG!

This takes me back to my youth when I designed little websites about all my favourite things, the days before myspace and facebook.

To start off with, I have always been inspired to blog because of a segment on my favourite radio station Hope103.2

And now here I am, finally starting one.

So...

The Name: Embracing Hats.

Basically, I have always been someone who loves being of service.  I have a few qualifications, and a pretty service-filled background.  And Im often changing hats alot of the time.

While a lot of people may look at my (young) life and think Im doing too much or I am always on the go... I live a very balanced life.  I am happy and very fulfilled.  The reason I can say I am fulfilled is simply because I receive my contentment from the Lord.

This is my first Hat, and one that I cannot and willnot take off.

Hat #1 Corinne is a Christian.

in following blogs ill take the time to explain each hat... but lets just say... my aim for me personally, is to learn to fully embrace all my hats.

Thats all for now.
