Never see a need without doing something about it

Never see a need without doing something about it... St Mary of the cross Mackillop.

Aren't they powerful words! With my first hat embedded into my head, I cannot go passed this quote without saying "amen"!

Not even as a Christian but as a human being we have a responsibility within us to care for one another!

My second hat :: Corinne the social worker.

I have a bachelor of social work at post graduate level. And until then I never went to Uni.... So how does that happen?
How does one enter a post graduate degree without having an undergraduate?

Well... For my entire working life since I started casual work in my last year of highschool, I have worked in some form of human services... From recreation programs for children with disabilities, respite with adults with disabilities, summer camp program in USA for special needs and disadvantaged/disengaged youth, to completing a diploma health science massage therapy and running a massage business for two years as a mobile service to ppl with disabilities... To being employed with my church as the youth minister... It granted me access to Uni!

For some reason, it has always been part of me to be of service for others, and I relate to the opening quote so much.

Being a social worker I just love engaging with ppl and empowering them to get to a place of hope and contentment. Now I know that place of hope and contentment is found in Jesus, but I have an ethical dilemma here. We know we cannot impose religion on anyone, yet I'm working with vulnerable people... So what is my answer?

Simple: St Francis of Assisi puts it beautifully "preach the gospel at all times, and when necessary use words".

The app that will help

I found an app for my iPhone that will allow me to blog whenever I can't sleep...

This is when I'm most creative and ideas flow like a rushing waterfall.

I cannot believe how addicted I am already to blogging!

So something that will be revealed in later hats will be about why I'm such a night owl.

Curfew for Rin is 11pm and that's not the time now... So I best be sleeping!

Introducing: The beautiful elrk with me at high tea... Her gift of faith is the best testimony of God's grace!

Embracing Hats... Why?

SO here it is,... my FIRST BLOG!

This takes me back to my youth when I designed little websites about all my favourite things, the days before myspace and facebook.

To start off with, I have always been inspired to blog because of a segment on my favourite radio station Hope103.2

And now here I am, finally starting one.

So...

The Name: Embracing Hats.

Basically, I have always been someone who loves being of service.  I have a few qualifications, and a pretty service-filled background.  And Im often changing hats alot of the time.

While a lot of people may look at my (young) life and think Im doing too much or I am always on the go... I live a very balanced life.  I am happy and very fulfilled.  The reason I can say I am fulfilled is simply because I receive my contentment from the Lord.

This is my first Hat, and one that I cannot and willnot take off.

Hat #1 Corinne is a Christian.

in following blogs ill take the time to explain each hat... but lets just say... my aim for me personally, is to learn to fully embrace all my hats.

Thats all for now.
